Keyword Research – Tagging
This Part is a follow-up to an earlier topic I covered on adding tags
that describe your document.
If you recall, I mentioned earlier about having at least 20 keywords as
your tags.
In this chapter, I’ll describe specifically how to go about doing keyword
research to gather at least 20 highly-targeted keywords or more.
Ideally, you want to begin by targeting keywords that have low amount
of competition and yet have a decent number of searches.
To do that, I’m going to use Google Wonder Wheel, which is a fantastic
tool for generating long tail keywords.
Firstly, go to Google and search for a general keyword related to your
niche. As an example, I’m going to search for acne treatment in quotes.
Once the results page shows up, look for the “Show Options” link as
illustrated in the screen grab below…
Click on the “Show options” link, the page will refresh and a menu bar
will appear on the left.
And the Wonder Wheel will unfold!
As you can see, when I searched for “acne treatment”, the Wonder
Wheel gave me 8 other related keywords suggestions.
Usually, I find that the first 8 suggested keywords have very high
competition, so I’ll go one level deeper by clicking on each of the 8
suggested keywords. Let me click on acne treatment blackheads as an
example.
